Exposed tree roots and bare dirt rings around trees are one of those things that slowly chip away at how a property looks. It's not dramatic - but it's noticeable. And honestly, it's one of the easier fixes in landscaping when it's done right.

Here's what we were working with: multiple mature trees spread across a rolling lawn, each with roots starting to show and bare soil around the base. No clean edge, nothing to frame them. The trees themselves are healthy and full - they just needed the ground-level detail to match.

We laid fresh black mulch around each tree, giving every ring a clean, defined edge that separates the mulch from the surrounding turf. The black color contrast against the green grass does a lot of the visual heavy lifting. It pulls everything together and makes the whole lawn feel more intentional and cared for.

Beyond the look, mulching around trees actually does something useful. It covers and protects exposed surface roots, holds moisture in the soil, and keeps lawn equipment from getting too close to the base - which is one of the more common ways trees take damage over time. It's one of those details that works both ways, aesthetically and practically.

Our mulch laying service handles exactly this kind of work - whether it's individual tree rings, full landscape beds, or a mix of both. If your property has trees or beds that need some attention, this is a straightforward way to clean things up without a major overhaul.
